President
The President is the administrative head of the
local union and is responsible to the membership for carrying through the mandate of Local 30. An active President will inspire fellow officers to become active and will inspire greater participation in the union’s affairs on the part of members.
The President speaks on behalf of the local union and meets with employers and the general public and symbolizes the rightful activities of the local union to improve wages, hours and working conditions.

Vice-Presidents
CUPE Local 30 has four Vice-Presidents, one for each of the large employers in the Edmonton region and one for Fort Saskatchewan. The Vice-Presidents serve as necessary when the President is not available to fulfill his or her duties.

Recording Secretary
The Secretary is one of the most important Executive members of the local union. The Secretary receives all correspondence from employers and the National Office on behalf of the union membership and bargaining units. The Secretary prepares all official correspondence, keeps accurate records of Executive Board and general membership meetings for the benefit of all members.

Treasurer
The Treasurer receives all monies, property and securities on behalf of the local union. All bill payments are made monthly by cheque bearing the union label and drawn on a local bank. One of the Treasurer’s important duties is to prepare and submit to the National Office the monthly membership report and per capita tax. All cheques are signed by two authorized signatures.

Assistant Treasurer
The Assistant Treasurer shall upon request by the Treasurer assist in the preparation of annual T-4 slips, Executive Honorarium calculations and cheques, preparation of monthly financial reports, and any other functions mutually agreed upon.
James McGuinness is the new Assistant Treasurer. His term expires 2013.
Sergeant-at-Arms
The Sergeant-at-Arms guards the inner door during meetings and ensures that no one but members in good standing and officials of CUPE gain admittance, except on the order of the President and by consent of the members present.
Mark Brzezowski is the current Sergeant-at-Arms. His term expires June 2011.

Chief Shop Stewards
The Chief Shop Stewards serve on the Executive Board, represent the interests of all members, and serve as the communication link between shop stewards, members and the City of Edmonton. There are five Chief Shop Stewards with CUPE Local 30 and their terms expire 2011.

Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees fulfills a number of duties related to financial matters on behalf of the union membership.
A. Acts as an Audit Committee and bi-annually audits the books and accounts of the Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Standing Committees.
B. Reports its findings at the first membership meeting following completion of each audit.
C. Is responsible to ensure that monies are not paid without proper constitutional or membership authorization.
D. Ensures that proper financial reports are made to the membership.
E. Inspects at least bi-annually any stocks bonds, securities, office furniture and equipment, and the titles and deeds to property that may be at any time owned by the Local, and report its findings to the membership.
F. Uses audit forms provided by the National Office and sends a copy of each bi-annual audit to the National Secretary Treasurer in accordance with the provision of the CUPE Constitution.
G. Arranges a suitable bond for the Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and signing officers.
H. Arranges for an audit of the Local books and accounts by an accredited accountant once per year, with costs to be approved by the Executive Board and ratified at a regular General Meeting.
I. Assists the Executive Board on matters of a financial nature when required.

CUPE National Representative
Judy Barry is CUPE Local 30's national representative and has provided assistance and support for all of Local 30" s needs. She is consistently involved with meetings, presentations and bargaining sessions.
